Yung Bleu released a remix to You’re Mines Still after Drake posted he’d like to hop on. Drake’s verse adds to the R&B joint and allows hit to display his vocals that haven’t been shown much on Dark Lane Demo Tapes or other features recently. It certainly seems like his forthcoming album could feature some ballads with a name like Certified Lover Boy. Dua Lipa and DaBaby have a fun collaboration in Levitating. Blackbear is getting a push recently and appears on Hate The Way, G-Eazy’s new single. Blackbear will appear on more playlists to come. Alicia Keys and Brandi Carlile are a wonderful pair on A Beautiful Noise.
Ariana Grande’s sixth studio album Positions is more sexually charged that previous releases and outside of a few boring tracks the album is pretty enjoyable. A Weeknd feature is always welcome.
Giveon dropped his debut album Take Time in March and blew up over the summer when he was featured on Drake’s Chicago Freestyle. His four piece EP When It’s All Said And Done is his newest release. Ty Dolla $ign’s Featuring Ty Dolla $ign album isn’t as good as the Beach House trilogy but he never disappoints. Some of his best tracks include Roddy Rich, Jhene Aiko, Kehlani, Musiq Soulchild and 6lack complementing his vocals.
THEY. The underrated LA dual dropped their sophomore album: The Amanda Tape. Play Fight was released in July with Tinashe as the first single. It’s an excellent R&B album in a tight, not over-bloated 10-track package. Listen to the entire album and que up their 2017 debut release: Nu Religion: HYENA and 2018’s Fireside EP if you like what you hear.
Other new album releases include Joyner Lucus – Evolution, Dej Leaf – Sell Sole II, , Queen Naija – misunderstood, Benny The Butcher – Burden of Proof, Wizkid – Made In Lagos, MadeinTYO – Never Forgotten, $NOT – Beautiful Havor, and deluxe releases of Dave East – Karma 3 and Lil Keed – Trapped On Cleveland 3 (Deluxe release).
