Kid Laroi’s debut album F*UCK LOVE was full of catch chorus and tracks that display potential for the 17-year-old Australian. The deluxe release titled: F*CK LOVE (SAVAGE) adds quality tracks to the extended album including features with Machine Gun Kelly and Youngboy Never Broke Again.
T.I.’s eleventh studio album The L.I.B.R.A (The Legend Is Back Running Atlanta) is his first in two years and only the second release the past six from the Atlanta rapper. Not ground-breaking but another solid project and includes features from vets and young blood alike with heavily hitters Young Thug, Lil Baby, Snoop Dogg, Benny The Butcher, Jadakiss, and Killer Mike. Gucci Mane dropped a compilation album So Icy Gang, Vol. 1. The album features the artist signed to his 1017 Label. I’m not a huge fan of the project and I’m not sure there are any “breakout” artists on the label, but it’s another body of work to digest for fans.
Veteran Busta Rhymes released Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God (Reloaded) his 10th studio album and first since 2012. Busta has popped up on features, television spots and on The Masked Singer over the years so he never “dropped off”. The new Dr.Dre collaboration is the follow-up to his 3rd album E.L.E (Extinction Level Event): The Final World Front (1998). Trippie Red dropped Pegasus (Spooky Sounds Edition) only his third album release but fifth project released in the past three years. It’s bloated but there are good track and Trippie is pulling big name features including Chris Brown, Young Thug, Future, Busta Rhymes, and Lil Wayne.
Also back after a break, Love Goes is Sam Smith’s first release in three years and it does NOT disappoint. With ballads like For The Lover That I Lost and Love Goes to the upbeat Diamonds and Dancing with a Stranger the album is worth a listen.
System of a Down has had their differences and band mates have worked on projects separately over the years. They’ve gotten together for the first time in 15 years and released two new tracks. Protect the Land and Genocidal Humanoidz sound like good old SOAD never left. In vocals, song structure and lyrical content not much has changed since 2015. They aren’t currently planning any more projects so these two tracks might be all we get.All Time Low released Wake Up, Sunshine in April of this year, its first album since 2017. A solid album, the Prblm Child Remix to the song Monsters was just released. Blackbear was featured on the original track (the guy is busier than Drake with the features).
Other new album releases include Nav – Emergency Tsunami, Blaac Youngsta – F*ck Everybody 3, Doe Boy – Demons R Us.
